Oscars betting will be hugely popular with punters as they try to determine who will scoop the prestigious awards. The BettingTop10 team have assessed each of the categories to come up with our Oscars predictions 2020. Best Picture Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is the early favourite for the best picture award and Quentin Tarantino’s masterpiece will be tough to beat in this category. 1917, Parasite and Joker are all prominent in the betting, while it would be foolish to dismiss the chances of The Irishman. And The Winner is Parasite Best Director Sam Mendes is being tipped as likely winner of the best director accolade for 1917, but Tarantino should give him a run for his money for his efforts with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Martin Scorsese’s work on The Irishman also brings him firmly into contention. And The Winner is Bong Joon-ho, Parasite Best Actor The Joker could end the awards with the most Oscars won after being nominated in 11 different categories. Joaquin Phoenix is seen by many pundits as a banker bet to pick up the best actor award and it’s difficult to argue with their view. Adam Driver’s performance in Marriage Story makes him a viable alternative in this category. And The Winner is Joaquin Phoenix, Joker Best Actress Renee Zellweger is strongly fancied to scoop the best actress award for her performance in Judy. However, Scarlett Johansson looks a better value bet after her starring role alongside Driver in the excellent comedy-drama Marriage Story. And The Winner is Renée Zellweger, Judy Best Supporting Actor Brad Pitt is a short-priced favourite in this category after shining in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He will certainly be tough to beat, but Joe Pesci could upset the odds when the Oscars results are announced by claiming the prize for his performance in The Irishman. And The Winner is Brad Pitt, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood Best Supporting Actress Laura Dern won best supporting actress at the Golden Globes for her role as a high-profile defense attorney in Marriage Story. It would be a major surprise if she didn’t follow up by winning at the Oscars, although Margot Robbie (Bombshell) will provide stiff competition. And The Winner is Laura Dern, Marriage Story Best Original Screenplay This category is likely to be a three-way battle between Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Marriage Story and Parasite. At the current odds, Marriage Story is perhaps the value wager in what is one of the toughest sections to predict. And The Winner is Bong Joon-ho, Parasite Best Adapted Screenplay The betting suggests that this will be another three-way fight, with The Irishman, Little Women and Jojo Rabbit heading the market. The last-named movie has split opinion amongst film critics, but won the people’s choice award at the Toronto international film festival back in September and could double up at the Oscars. And The Winner is Taika Waititi, Jojo Rabbit Best Animated Feature Film. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, I Lost My Body, Klaus and Missing Link have been nominated in this category, but if there’s any justice in the world they will be defeated by Toy Story 4. The movie broke the franchise box office record and would be a worthy winner. And The Winner is Hair Love Best International Film Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite has been receiving rave reviews and should be difficult to beat in this category. The movie scooped the Best Foreign Language Film award at the Golden Globes and is a good bet to follow up at the Oscars. And The Winner is South Korea, Parasite
