|Lewis Gregory’s side has had a great season where they won 8 out of the 14 games they played and have lost only four times. They have batted well right through the T20 Blast and their bowlers have also been in good form. It is in the knockout stages that the side has done poorly in the last few seasons and Gregory who is one of the top-rated skippers in the domestic season would like to put that behind. They are up against a good side and Gregory would want his players to make the most use of the home advantage and win this game.
In Tom Banton and Devon Conway, the side has a strong opening pair, and a good show would be expected from them in this important game. Tom Abell, Will Smeed and Steven Davies have scored runs for the side, and they have to play a very important role in the middle order for the side to win this game. Gregory along with Tom Lammonboy adds depth to their batting. The side would expect a good start with the new ball from Josh Davey and Marchant de Lange and both these players have done well in previous games. Gregory brings in a lot of experience and along with Max Waller and Lammonboy shall look to do well here.
|Dane Vilas’ side has played well this season and they had finished second in their group. Though the side had lost steam towards the end of the league stages they had had a very good start which has helped them make it to the knockout stages. Vilas would be aware of the strength his opponents have who would also be playing at their home ground adding to their advantage. He would like his players to put in their best here and make it to the semifinals.
They would expect a good start in this game from the opening pair of Liam Livingstone and Keaton Jennings as both these players bring good firepower to the table. The middle-order is rock solid with Steven Croft, Alex Davies and Dane Vilas in the side. They would also expect to see good hits down the order from the likes of Rib Jones and Luke Wells as these players have good hitting abilities. Matthew Parkinson has bowled well, and he would look to grab early wickets in the company of Luke Wood. Tom Hartley will need to check the flow of runs with Steven Croft. Luke Wells and Livingstone add to the variety in their attack.
Somerset shall win the game
Both sides would have their share of problems playing this format after a month-long break. Lancashire Lightning have a very strong batting line-up and they would rely on their batsmen to deliver given the weakness in their bowling set-up. Most of their bowlers have fared poorly in this tournament. Somerset on the other hand have looked good with the bat and the ball and their bowlers have been among the wickets this year which would add to the confidence of the side.
The game is expected to be a close one, but Somerset are playing at home and they have enjoyed a good record here and this would make them favourites to win this contest.
